Product Description

This close reading worksheet covers the parts of Unbroken when Louie is a prisoner of war, particularly when he is first rescued from the ocean. It asks students to read selections from the text, then choose whether that was an example of dehumanization or isolation (both tactics used by the Japanese on prisoners of war). At the end, the students are asked to describe three ways Louie and the other prisoners subverted this treatment.
