Product Description
This PowerPoint includes photos taken by me while on a Teachers of American History Civil Rights Tour of historical sites in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma, Alabama in 2013. It contains 55 annotated slides and reference resources. Birmingham sites include the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, Kellly Ingram Park, and monuments dedicated to the Children's Crusade protestors. The Montgomery sites include Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, Dr. Martin Luther King's church parsonage, Harris House, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Selma's slides focus on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, Brown Chapel, ladies who participated in the Selma March to Montgomery, and other "Foot Soldiers". This is ideal for teaching a Civil Rights unit, especially since 2014 is the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
