This is a much more in-depth presentation of the Principle of Design: Balance. It is meant to show how visual balance works in the brain, and how an artist can use it as an effective design tool. Aside from the obvious implication of formal balance, that is; left from right, top from bottom, foreground from background, I have also pursued discussion on colour balance, as it relates to the seven contrasts of colour, most of which pertain to relationships with complementary colours; balance in colour as shape, form, and weight. There are, at the end, some ideas on lesson plans and presentation of a fair and unbiased evaluation process.
