PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In order to apply student understanding of the literary terms of connotation and denotation, students will be given the job to name a new professional athletic team. They have to decide what type of sport the team plays, and then choose a name that has a positive connotation. The selection of an appropriate will demonstrate their understanding. (This is something you could discuss as a class as well.) Students posters or charts should include:
• Select a name that has a positive connotation
• Write the denotation of the team name
• List connotations of that team name
• Decide what type of sport the team plays
• Design a poster advertising your new team
• Explain why this team name will be a successful one
• Team name logo design
• Quotes from group members or a celebrity endorser describing their reactions to the name, and tell whether or not you would buy a team jersey
