I use this pre-reading lesson to introduce students to dystopian societies before we begin a dystopian novel. In this self-directed lesson, students work together in small groups to come to an understanding of what a dystopia is and the characteristics one possesses. Once students feel confident in this understanding, each group creates a poster applying their knowledge of dystopias to a dystopian film - making connections between their film choice and how the dystopian characteristics apply to it. Will work as a great introduction to any dystopian novel!
Includes: detailed lesson plan, informational slides on dystopias for students to use, updated list of dystopian films for students to refer to - all on aesthetically pleasing slides!
