Understanding feelings and make connections to the feelings of characters in the stories your learners hear or read is one of the biggest obstacles to their comprehension. This is even more so with learners who have limitations in their understanding.
This response sheet can be used with any story that involves characters having any feelings. It can even be used after a discussion of a “feelings picture”.
I designed this activity for use with my K-2 learners who need to improve their ability to identify character’s feelings and to answer critical thinking questions which require them to explain “why” a character is having a particular feeling. I plan to work with them on meeting their writing goals as well by using their writing conventions checklist (also available in my store) with their written response.
I have taught special education for 12 years and kindergarten for 14. I write for a national publisher, creating learning activities and products professionally. I am working to add more of my personal products to my program and store to help meet the needs of the special education learner within the Common Core Learning Standards. Stay tuned! :)
