This reference sheet is part of "Understanding Fractions", a multi-part Scaffolded fractions curriculum, and is included in "Part 3 - Factors & Factoring."

Part 3, Factors & Factoring, can be used as part of a study of fractions, or as a stand-alone unit to improve understanding of numbers and math in general. When kids can take a number apart and put it back together again, they gain confidence in math skills.

"Understanding Fractions" is designed especially for kids who learn math best when it is presented in small increments, with plenty of practice on one concept before moving on to the next. Each concept is clearly explained, with many examples. This scaffolded approach helps kids develop solid math skills and confidence.

Part 3 topics include:

Finding factors and prime factors of a number and understanding the difference;

Shortcuts to quickly find out if the prime numbers 2,3,5,7, and 11 are in a number of any size;

A detailed color-coded section on factoring division (sample included in preview). Includes worksheets, quizzes, and a test, along with answer keys.

Part 3 requires knowledge of basic multiplication and division, and familiarity with long division which will help in understanding factoring division.

"Understanding Fractions" is presented in several parts which are available individually and soon will be available as a bundle.
