Product Description
Introduce the Concept of Ratios with These Practice Cards

This resource contains a set of 45 cards designed to help students understand basic ratios. In this set of cards for understanding ratios, students compare part-to-part ratios using visual representations of squares and circles. Using these cards, students make connections between a sentence about a ratio, a visual representation of the ratio and the ratio in number form. These cards can be used in four different ways, in stations, in partners, or individually in order to practice the concept of basic ratios. More detailed instructions about each of the ways to use these cards are included on page 2 of the teacher directions.

Small Group/Partners
Match to Picture: Students match the sentence that describes the ratio to its picture and to its number representation, in a non-competitive setting.
Card Game: Two students compete in order to see who can match each set of three cards the fastest.
Matching/Memory Game: Two students compete to match as many sets of three cards as possible.

Card Sort: Each student sorts the cards into three matching categories: sentence about the ratio, visual representation and ratio in number form.

These ratio practice cards address CCSS 6.RP.A.1 (understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities).
