Sequence can be a very difficult skill for many students to master. Most students are proficient when it comes to listing events in order from a story, but can get confused when events are written about in an order different from how they occurred. Flashbacks and references to the past can often be tricky.
This lesson will help students recognize that the order in which events are written is not necessarily the same as the order in which they happened.
Included is a full lesson plan including a short video clip from YouTube, a short baseball passage, and two sets of event cards. Students will be asked to order events from two different stories in two different ways: the order in which they appear, and the order in which they happened.
This lesson is hands on and interactive. Students will watch a short video clip, have discussions, and physically move event cards.
