This is the second part of a mini-unit to introduce the United Nations. It can be used as a social studies lesson or in conjunction with a Model United Nations club or elective. I am a
Huge proponent of an inquiry based approach, and in this mini-unit students are motivated to find the information.
Students Will
♦ Jigsaw five chapters of the UN Charter and become an expert on one.
→CHAPTER IV: THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
→CHAPTER V: THE SECURITY COUNCIL
→CHAPTER X: THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL
→CHAPTER XIV: THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE
→CHAPTER XV: THE SECRETARIAT
♦ Student are tasked with presenting a lesson to the rest of their class on their organization.
♦ Use the included graphic organizer to plan, design, teach, and check for understanding.
