Understanding the role of attributes in measuring, classifying and identifying objects, events and problem solving is important. Scientists, mathematicians, writers, etc. all use attributes or properties to sort, organise and classify in the real world.
This activity invites students to explore and identify which attributes could be used to classify and sort 3D shapes. This task can be used primarily for mathematics, or it can be used as a resource to bridge ideas across subjects such as science.
Included in the resource:
• Teacher information page
• Resource basket card
• Student card
• Two thinking routines
• 16 attribute cards
• 10 challenge cards for extension work
• Mathematics – Shapes, sorting and classifying
• Science- Sorting and classifying
