I have my students do a worksheet like this at the beginning of every chapter for homework. I chose the "En El Bosque Tropical" words (11 words total) from the En Espanol En El Bosque Tropical chapter. For each word students must write it 3 times in Spanish, give the definition in English, use it in a sentence and draw a picture. Words used on the worksheet: la hoja (the example), la planta silvestre, el leon, la mariposa, la selva, la tortuga, la rana, la serpiente, el loro, el jaguar, la tierra. (Accents are on the worksheet where needed)
This is from words in U5E1 En El Bosque Tropical. But even if you're not using this textbook, you can use this to teach your students basic words to visit a tropical rain forest in Spanish.
My students score higher on the semester exams than the district average, I think this type of worksheet contributes to that!
