To examine the series of events that led to the unification of Germany.

The lesson begins by going over a few paragraphs of background information with the class. Students then read through nine statements summarizing the important steps which brought about German unification. This is followed by a series of questions in which class members work individually to arrange a group events in the order they occurred, use critical thinking skills, and pretend to be a newspaper cartoonist during the German unification by making a sketch representing an important event, or some other aspect, of the unification movement.
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included, along with a 20-question follow up quiz to measure student progress. The quiz can also be given as a homework assignment or used as a review exercise later in the school year.
