Complete 2nd Grade Unit 1 bundled lessons. Lessons for each day of teaching!
These lessons are written on Microsoft Word so that you may edit them as you like!
If you are new to the Wonders Reading Curriculum and having trouble juggling all of the activities, you are not alone. This document includes the ENTIRE UNIT 1 daily lesson plans. Weeks 1-5, five day plans(1 day for assessment/centers). If you purchase these plans, your reading will be taken care of for 5 weeks! The lesson plans are easy to read, organized into steps, and scripted so a lot of the work is done for you! Each lesson includes learning targets, group activities, independent activities, and a scripted style lesson. The lessons cover:
ALL OF UNIT 1- WEEKS 1-5
Each week covers:
-Day 1: Essential Question, listening comprehension, Week 5 begins phonics, spelling
-Day 2: Vocabulary, shared read, and high frequency words
-Day 3: One of the comprehension strategies/skills (I alternate each week since many overlap throughout the units) reread shared read, literature anthology reading
-Day 4: Close reading/audio reading with the literature anthology/comprehension test
*Day 5: Centers (vocabulary/spelling assessments, wonders online, poster project, leveled readers)
BONUS: List of weekly spelling words (in all three levels starting at Week 5 for this first Unit), ready to display or print out for students!
BONUS: Center grouping ideas and display template to help your students navigate with their group and rotate.
You will need to supplement these lessons with the curriculum resources such as Wonders online, teacher guides, printables, and the Readers Workshop books/Literature Anthology. I often find additional practice here on TPT or on other sites. These lessons gave me a much more concrete plan to follow than the guides provided and I hope they help you and your learners as well!
*Please leave me feedback as to how I can update these lesson plans to support you! There is a lot here and sometimes it is easy to miss something!
*Also note, for Unit 1, I have not included phonics until the 5th week. I wait to introduce phonics until the 5th week to help gradually immerse my class in the curriculum and not give them everything at once.
