This bundle includes a powerpoint, two pretests, an activity and a review sheet.
The powerpoint is short with only 7 slides but there's a lot of good content within. It focuses mainly on the following topics: Power, Authority, Sovereignty, Characteristics of a State, and Forms of Government. There are no guided notes nor do there need to be due to the length of the powerpoint. The powerpoint is setup in Cornell Notes style format, but it's optional to have the kids use them.
The two pretests have different purposes. One is merely to get a pulse for student background knowledge on government and the other one is is a primary source document used in Alabama for the literacy portion test for Blacks to vote. Neither have keys, but they aren't difficult to figure out.
The activity refers to American ignorance and serves a wake-up call to your students that they are the least learned generation in American history since public education became mandatory over a century ago. The activity focuses on where people get their information, what they know of their civic duties and who's in government.
