Unit 1 - The Civil War and Reconstruction - Lesson 1.4-1.5 Course and Consequences of the War discusses the Civil War. It goes over the advantages and disadvantages of the North and South. The lesson discusses Vicksburg (Anaconda Plan) and Gettysburg. The lesson also talks about The Emancipation Proclamation and the Southern surrender. The last part of this lesson will discuss the effects/consequences of the war. This can be done in one or two separate lessons.

- Part 1 discusses the Civil War, lessons 1.1-1.5.
- Part 2 discusses Reconstruction which are lessons 1.6-1.8
- Part 3 discusses Going West which are lessons 1.9 and 1.10.
