Unit 1 - The Civil War and Reconstruction - Lesson 1.1 - 1.5 targets the Civil War. Through these lessons students will identify and understand the key long term causes of the Civil War including the various Compromises. In addition, these lessons will discuss the Election of 1860, Secession, Course, Consequence and Effects of the Civil War.
Benchmark target: SS.912.A.2.1* – Review causes and consequences of the Civil War.
This Unit is broken up into three parts.
- Part 1 discusses the Civil War, lessons 1.1-1.5.
- Part 2 discusses Reconstruction which are lessons 1.6-1.8
- Part 3 discusses Going West which are lessons 1.9 and 1.10.
This lesson comes complete with Interactive visual powerpoint slides which include teacher lecture notes. In addition, there are critical thinking questions and teacher answers may include at least one interactive activity *or* review. Slides have overlays so make sure to view from Presentation mode.
