This is the complete lecture notes set for Unit 3. This unit covers all the basics of pitch, including definitions and examples of: pitch, intervals, sharps and flats, enharmonics, etc. It also introduces the piano keyboard and how to identify pitch and intervals on a keyboard.
I know that this sounds like a lot! And in a way, it is. However, after years of teaching this course I discovered that music can be a lot simpler than we think. And the piano actually helps solidify all of these terms, as now you have a visual instead of just learning about pitch and intervals in concept.
I do recommend that you copy a piano keyboard (two octaves is plenty) for each student to keep with their notes, where they can write on both white and black keys throughout Unit 3 and beyond.
