This two page handout is a fun way to get students to actively listen, and learn to identify, the intervals within an octave of a major scale, as well as all common chords (major, minor, diminished, augmented, seventh).
I have a blank student copy which they can use to fill out, as well as the teacher's copy which has the suggested clues we use. This is the beginning of aural dictation and aural training.
Encourage students to tell you what the various intervals/chords sound like to them, or what they remind them of. This will help a student really remember these as they go into more advanced aural training down the road.
