Feedback expert Dylan Wiliam argues that if we are using feedback effectively with students in classrooms, we will turn it into "detective work." That means instead of GIVING feedback to students, we will give them opportunities to GATHER information about their own progress.
This handout -- which is inspired by a Rick Stiggins recommendation -- is designed to do just that. At the end of a unit of study, I ask students to spot learning trends in their own work and to draw conclusions about concepts that they have mastered and concepts that they continue to struggle with.
The preview is an overview sheet from one of my units. It is designed to give you an idea of what a unit overview might look like. The for purchase file includes a blank Word Doc that you can edit to reflect the units that you are teaching.
