Looking for a new creative idea to teach the unit circle to your high school trig students that combines math with art in ready to display poster form?
When you purchase, click DOWNLOAD to get the original 16 page static PDF document that includes the answer keys and project rubric. When you select Create Digital Activity, the interactive layer has already been done for you, meaning NO PREP! Just download and assign. It's that easy! You can use the digital worksheets as you teach the lesson or present the project over Zoom or Google Hangouts and you can type right on the worksheets. DISCLAIMER: students will have to write "pi" instead of using the symbol or type in "sqrt" instead of using the symbol for square root in their responses. But at least now you can share your screen and what used to be a static PDF is now interactive for your students to use on their electronic device.
You also have the option of changing the answer boxes or editing the directions as you wish, and you can even delete or add pages into what your students see from the original PDF. Choosing the Create Digital Activity option allows you to customize the resource digitally to ensure that your students can effectively engage with the content.
Students can present their projects to each other by taking a picture of their poster and sharing over Zoom.
Instead of giving students the unit circle to memorize, it’ll be more meaningful for your students to see how the unit circle comes about and why the coordinates are what they are. This project is meant to help students in both remembering the unit circle and understanding it. There are 2 worksheets included in this project: Unit Circle Project Background Information and The Unit Circle. The first can be done whole class as a way to introduce the lesson/project. The second can be done as part of the project or you can even use it as a QUIZ after students complete the project.
Give each student a Unit Circle Project Directions worksheet. I assign this project independently. It’s quite easy to grade with a checklist since it’s out of 10 possible points so you can easily convert to a percent and assign a letter grade. Ask students to attach the rubric to the back of the project for your convenience. You can even ask them to grade each other’s work.
