This is Unit 1 of a complete curriculum A Survey of Western Literature I. It includes both a Student Guide and a Teacher guide. It is an interactive PDF document that is best used in Adobe Acrobat DC. It includes a Unit Title and a Unit Descriptor indicating the goal of the unit. Primary readings for recommended texts. Rolling over the Headers gives a brief description of the purpose. Rolling over checkboxes on Primary Readings gives a brief synopsis of the text. Clicking on the text takes you to its location online. Rolling over terms in the Lexis Guide gives etymologies, definitions, and explanations. Clicking on a Further Reading takes you to its source on the web. Students can type in Key Questions and their Assignments. Segue To Next suggests a lecture to connect this unit to the next one. In the Teacher Guide there are Performances to recommend activities or writing assignments. Key Questions are recommended for discussion topics, lectures, or test questions. Extensions are chances to take the class even further into unit goals. Bolded red words in the Extensions are rollover explanations of complex topics. The Weekly Planner allows teachers to input directly into the document or copy and paste items in. This unit could be done over 4-6 weeks or extended even further as there is a wealth of resources in this single unit guide.
