Unit Rate and Alternative Energy Resources Math Activity
This task is intended to be a crossover lesson between science and math. It can be used in the math class to reinforce science or in the science class to reinforce math.
Students have inherited an amusement park and must decide which type of alternative energy would be the cheapest to power the park. I researched the actual cost per megawatt for each type and students will use that information to find a unit rate. They will then calculate how much it will cost per hour to run the park.
The exit ticket included is to reinforce the term "alternative" energy. Students are asked to explain why these energies are referred to as alternative energies.
The set includes a discussion sheet, 3 pages of math word problems, a key to the worksheets, and exit cards.
