### Description

Unit Rates Word Problems Jumble Puzzle Activity

Engage your students with these 2 differentiated word association activities.

Your 6th grade middle school students will solve word problems involving unit rates. The first activity only uses whole numbers to find the answers. The second activity uses decimals and converting units before solving. Students will circle correct answers on a clue sheet, unscramble the words, and find what the words have in common.

This resource includes:

• 2 differentiated activities (one uses only whole number word problems and one uses decimals and converting basic units before solving)
• Clue sheets

Understand the concept of a unit rate 𝘒/𝘣 associated with a ratio 𝘒:𝘣 with 𝘣 β‰  0, and use rate language in the context of a ratio relationship. For example, β€œThis recipe has a ratio of 3 cups of flour to 4 cups of sugar, so there is 3/4 cup of flour for each cup of sugar.” β€œWe paid \$75 for 15 hamburgers, which is a rate of \$5 per hamburger.”
Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations.
