When working with unit rates, setting the problem up can be difficult for some students!
In this activity, students cut out fractions and units of measure and use the pieces to set up unit rate problems (involving ratios of fractions). There is also space for students to show their work and write their solution. Two pages of worksheets with six unit rate problems is included - they can copied back-to-back.
For each situation, students set up two ratios. For example: Jenny finishes 1/2 a puzzle in 1/4 of an hour. At this rate, how long will it take her to finish one puzzle? OR At this rate, how many puzzles can she finish per hour?
Answer key included!
