Looking for a way to increase student engagement while teaching the classic, The Pearl by John Steinbeck? This is the complete unit will have your students hooked from the first day!
Complete unit includes:
✔ Graphic organizer for each chapter
✔ Analyzing quotes
✔ Using quotes to support writing
✔ Discussion questions
✔ Unit test
This unit also includes an end of unit newspaper project. This project not only ask students to write articles about the story, but ask them to think about the story in a different way by rewriting the story from another character's perspective. The project assignment is designed to make students think about the book and not just summarize the story line.
I have also included the unit test I give. Test questions represent more than just comprehension of the story. It focuses on why characters make the choices they did, clarifying questions, chronology and matching quotes to tone/mood of the story.
