This product is a quick introduction into the Electoral College. The PowerPoint goes over how the Electoral College works. The PowerPoint also examines, in relative detail, 3 common criticism or the Electoral College and quickly looks at 6 positives of the Electoral College.
I usually use this PowerPoint in conjunction with a voting activity. I have on note cards the initials of all 50 states with the Electoral College votes. The class votes (in case of an actual election year and my class I use the candidates). We calculate the popular vote. Then the students vote "again" (the have to still vote the same way but now we look at the Electoral Votes that their state has. (I had passed out the cards earlier and asked the class not to look until after their popular had been register and since the EC is winner take all however they voted is how their state(s) voted). Then we analyze the numbers and have a discussion.
Thanks for looking!
