United States Map Review PowerPoint Template: Students in my Geography Classes love my Map Reviews. We utilize them as practice and review for upcoming map tests. I use pictures of faculty and coaches in our community on the review. Project the question slide and allow students to answer. In the past, I have used dry erase boards with this activity, but now students use the Note App on their tablets/IPADS. After appropriate wait time, have students hold answers up and reveal the answer. All of my answer slides typically include a picture of a famous landmark, flag, or theme related to the location.
You can request a picture from colleagues and all you need to do is paste the picture on a question and answer slide. You could also share it on Google Drive, designate a location, and ask faculty to add their picture to the question and answer slide for you. I have completed the first four question slides as an example (you can easily change out my pictures). When possible, I like to find pictures that characterize the location. For example, on slide 6/7, Deputy Dave's picture was taken in the snow for Alaska. Pictures taken from pools, lakes, or in a boat are fun to use for water bodies. Also, the kids like seeing pictures from a teacher's childhood as shown in slide 4/5.
Principals and supervisors like this activity because every student is engaged on every question.
I will be adding more map reviews soon! This is also a great activity for parents to use at home.
