Do your students struggle to see beyond their own little community? This unit will help students look at the unique features that make up each state in the United States. Students will be able to see similarities and differences between each state and make connections that stick with them.
In this download, you will find 150+ pages of United States research activities. These activities can be done individually in short 10-15 minute class times, or used to make an entire unit of study!
*Quick Facts Notebook Pages (50 pages) to learn about unique features of each state, focusing on state symbols (these can also be used as standalone worksheets)
*Answer Keys (50 pages) for Interactive Notebook pages (because sometimes we teachers need a little cheat sheet ;)
*State Research Report (22 pages) for any state which includes pages to research symbols, tourism, landmarks, geography, sports teams, colleges and universities, famous people, and more!
*Bulletin Board Set Up (20 pages) to display the states studied.
*Postcard Exchange ideas and tips
Check out the preview to see more examples of what is included!
*My class participated in a Postcard Exchange with schools across the United States. When we receive a new postcard, we use that opportunity to study the state a little more in depth. We also highlight each state on our bulletin board when the postcard arrives to show which states we have learned about.
I hope you enjoy this unit and your kiddos learn more about the nation we live in!
