This year, I puzzled over managing fact tests without having to make copies of different tests and keep track of which student was on which fact family. After finding some ideas and inspirations online, I created this universal fact test! Just make a bunch of copies and cut the papers in half for 2 fact tests. Students write down the number they are multiplying by at the top of the paper, and then write the product in each box. Easy! I gave students 2 minutes to complete the test.
I used Melissa Bergen's free multiplication punch cards
to help students keep track of the fact family that they were on. I printed out these cards on card stock and laminated them with each student's name. They kept these cards at their desk and received a punch once they passed a fact family. When it was time to take a fact test, they simply checked their card to see which fact they were on!
