If your high-school students are anything like mine they'll be pestering you to help them get ready for interviews. Some will need to interview for university and college places as part of the entrance process, whilst others will be looking to get jobs.
These PowerPoint slides help students assess what their strengths are and how to use this knowledge successfully during interview.
It was designed for non-native English speakers so it breaks out some of the formal vocabulary used in interview questions so that they are able to know the meaning of many of the common interview questions.
For all the questions, I try to take the students behind what the question is looking for - the psychology of the question. For example, the question "What are your weaknesses?" is testing for arrogance, willingness to learn and improve.
There are activities for the students to compose their own answers to the questions throughout the show.
A printable worksheet is included to help students review interview vocabulary (and practice answering some tricky questions). It contains a reading comprehension, short answer questions and a crossword puzzle.
Also included is a link to arcade games (again targetted at practicing the vocabulary).
I use this evey year with grade 12 students at a private school in Thailand. Students are able to enter the top universities in Thailand - I'd like to think this prior teaching helped them achieve this!
I hope it's useful to you and your students.
