Unlocking story problems will be a cinch for your students after completing the activities in this unit. Unlocking Story Problems includes:
* Key Word Sort- This key word sorting activity is simple to prep and tons of fun! Students will color the booklet and keys, fold the booklet on the dotted lines, staple the outside edges of the pockets, cut out the key words, and sort the keys that they’ll use to unlock addition and subtraction story problems.
* Scoot- This unit includes everything you need for an exciting game of “Scoot.” You’ll find instructions, a student recording page, 26 addition and subtraction story problem task cards (with and without QR codes), and an answer key. The best part is, there are a lot of great QR code readers available for free and you don’t need Wi-Fi for the codes to work! Don’t have a device to scan the codes in your classroom? You can still use the cards without QR codes to play “Scoot” or as a math center for students who finish their work early.
* Step-by-Step Story Problems- Four step-by-step story problems are included in this unit to guide students through the process of finding key words, drawing pictures to solve problems, writing equations, labeling their answers, and scanning QR codes to see if their answers are correct. Each story problem includes an answer key that can be displayed while discussing each problem’s solution.
* Create Your Own Story Problem- Once your students have mastered solving story problems, they can create their own using the templates provided. I’ve even included a template with a space for your students’ very own QR codes!
