Lesson Plan and Student Handouts for the novel Unwind
Use the character chart to focus on character descriptions, views on "unwinding," and internal/external conflicts to help students understand each character and his/her perspective.
Includes comprehension questions for use after chapter 1 - Available in both a short answer response and a multiple choice format. Great for differentiation with students of various ability/readiness groups!
Also includes 4 open ended questions for use after chapter 4 for students to respond and support their answers with text evidence. Possible answers with page numbers for text evidence included.
These items have been used to lay a foundation for students reading the entire book as well as for a text based method using current young adult literature for teaching internal/external conflict and using text evidence.
You don't have to read the entire book. I have used chapters 1-4 as an excerpt to teach needed skills and then stopped. Students who get interested in the content will continue reading on their own!
