If your students are anything like mine, they may have some difficulty adding and subtracting 10s and 1s with base-10 strategies. This math center is to help with these skills in a fun, interactive way! There are 3 levels to accommodate all of your students and allow them to grow as well! This center could also be used for 1st graders who are ready for 2-digit numbers and/or are above grade level.
The kids will pick a present that has a number on it (3 levels: 2-digit, 3-digit, 4-digit), and place it in the middle square of the number grid puzzle. They will use a dry erase marker (or however you want them to write them) to fill in the numbers that go above, below, and side to side the number in the present. They will then record their work on the recording sheets. Of course, you can always tweak it to make it work well for your students! With the differentiated levels, this center will be quick and easy to get together and make it meaningful for all of your students! :)
There are 2 sets of the same math center: 1 in color and 1 in black and white to save ink if needed. :)
Included in this set are...
*Setup and Directions page for the teachers/parents
*Student Direction Page
*2 Number Grid Squares: 1 with blank boxes, and 1 with boxes including light prompts for +10, -10, +1, -1 for students who need that extra support before moving up to the blank ones
*120s Chart for students who need that support
*24 Presents with Numbers on them for each level (2-digit, 3-digit, 4-digit numbers)
*2 Recording Sheets: 1 with the identical number grid to fill in and 1 with the present to fill in the number picked along with the number facts to make it a little more challenging
