Up North at the Cabin is a wonderful book by Marsha Wilson Chall. This book is an excellent resource to use when teaching the comprehension strategy of visualization. You could also use this book to model finding similes and metaphors. Additionally, if you follow the Responsive Classroom approach, you could use this book to demonstrate the "take a break" concept. Students can visualize a special place they know about when they feel themselves losing control and in need of centering images to refocus.
