This hot-air balloon themed fly-swatting listening activity is for practicing the rhythmic concept of a quarter rest (ta rest). Other rhythms include the quarter note (ta) and paired eighth notes (ti-ti).
Project onto a whiteboard or Smartboard for best results.
The first set of 16 slides have one rhythmic pattern per slide for you to prepare your students before playing the game. The next set of 12 slides each have two rhythmic patterns per page with an embedded sound file. The third set of 6 slides each have four of rhythmic patterns per page with two sound files embedded.
Stick notation with note heads is used.
This activity could be used for as a team game. It could also be used for assessment purposes.
