Product Description
This is an upper intermediate English as a second or foreign language (ESL / EFL) examination.

No need to struggle with formatting or figuring out the answers in upper intermediate level English - It’s ready to print and comes with an answer key.

The exam starts with two reading passages :
• a crime report
• a report about education
Vocabulary words in the texts include:
• on the contrary
• don't see the point
• victim
• arrested
• trial
• consequence
There are ten multi choice comprehension questions.

The next section is dialogue using reported speech and negative prefixes. 10 multi choice items. Student answer sheet is attached to the exam to help with speedy marking of the first 20 questions (the multi-choice sections). Vocabulary in this section includes:
• misbehave
• misunderstood
• impolite
• independent

Next is a section dedicated to vocabulary. It’s 10 fill in the blanks from a box of words (to add difficulty, each box has one extra word that is not used). It's in two parts:
phrasal verbs (e.g. sail through / sit for / keen on)
• vocabulary about education (e.g. revise / qualified / punish)

Grammar is the theme of the next section. Again in two parts:
word formation: make the noun from the verb in a table
• Form the passive voice in a closed passage about crime.

Lastly is the writing section. There is a short dialogue between a boy and a girl in direct speech. Students must use reported speech to report what was said (i.e. put it into indirect speech).

The exam file is provided in Word document format and can be edited.

The teacher's answer key is a marked-up version of the exam, also in Word.

The test is 60 minutes in duration and was given to grade 12 students in a private school in south-east Asia. The results showed this was a tough test making it suitable for upper intermediate or those bordering on the advanced level.

I hope it's useful to you.
