This activity can be used in many ways within your classroom. As a center, students can practice letter recognition, upper and lower case letter correspondence, and letter sounds. It can also easily become a take home activity or file folder game. Its also a great addition to any St. Patrick’s Day units!
In my classroom, I laminated the individual shamrocks and gold coins. I then attached a small piece of scratchy Velcro to the front of each shamrock. Next, I attached a soft piece of Velcro to the back of each gold coin. This makes it easy for students to stick the corresponding letters together without having to worry about them falling off or becoming separated while they are putting together the rest of the alphabet.
