Urashima Taro is a Japanese folktale about a fisherman who rescues a turtle. This folder contains a summary in two formats. The video book provides music and pictographs arranged sequentially. The PDF provides the same pictographs, in the same order, but, of course, without the music. If you know the story, you can retell it using the pictographs to illustrate the events of the story. You can also let students make up their own stories based on what’s here. If they don’t know the story, the music and pictographs might suggest other stories they can write, draw, or act out. This resource is not grade-specific, but it is recommended for upper elementary or secondary students. The PDF provides a link to the story.
