Here is a great way to provide your students with a project that will help reinforce the information taught in class. It also gives the students a different opportunity to receive a grade that is not solely based on a formal assessment, as we all have different strengths. Additionally, it provides excellent help to further prepare them for the unit 3 social studies test.
The following is included in this project:
- Cover sheet for students to create an illustration to match their writing.
- Differentiated bubble maps to help students organize their writing.
- Rubric is attached for easy grading and to provide students/parents clear expectations
- It has been created using Microsoft Word and can be revised to meet your classroom needs.
- Task is as follows:
1- Using your social studies textbook, review unit 3 lessons 1-3
(pages 114-117, 120-123 & 128-133)
2- Think about the place where you live.
3- Create a bubble map that describes your community.
4- Remember to include facts and details.
5- Also, include 3 out of the 5 vocabulary words listed in the word bank
6- Use your bubble map to write a paragraph (minimum of 5 sentences) describing your community. In your paragraph, include 3 out of the 5 vocabulary words listed in the word bank.
7- On the cover, draw an illustration to match your writing.
