First, I included book with concrete examples of urban, rural, and suburban communities. I wrote this to help students take an abstract concept and turn it into concrete examples. Second is a fold-able which allows the students to show what they learned from the book. The fold-able is divided into three categories: urban, suburban, and rural. Students must identify what each of these communities have and are. The book that I wrote is an awesome resource for this project. Third, I included a Venn Diagram comparing Urban and Rural communities, and a picture sort. Fourth, I included an art project, where the students draw the different types of communities. Finally, I included a list of picture books showcasing each of these communities. My daughter came home from school not understanding this concept, and after doing these activities she does!
