Are you starting a verbs or English usage unit? Do you commonly see issues in your students' writing with problem verbs like lay/lie, raise/rise, set/sit?
Many verbs are confused, so I have isolated three of the most common in this lesson. You get a practice sheet, a quiz, and a handy reference sheet outlining the differences in the verbs for students to keep.
The practice includes reading sentences, and choosing the correct verb, then students will write their own sentences from the verbs provided.
On the quiz, students read sentences and choose the correct form of the verb, and in the second section, they read a correct sentence, and determine if the verb has an object.
There is an answer key for both.
