Come and take a look at a great way to get to know your students' opinions on fun student-friendly topics!
In the elementary grades, Anchor Standard #1 refers to Opinion Writing. Students in K-5th grades are to compose opinion pieces that are focused on the texts that they are reading or topics that they encounter in the classroom.
A great way to hook students to begin tackling this standard and to also get to know their likes and dislikes, is to provide them opportunities to voice their choice!
In this resource, students are given various scenarios where they choose one option compared to another. They are asked to not only state their opinion, but to supply reasons for it, and to provide a sense of closure.
For each of the 12 opinion prompts, I have provided differentiated writing templates that align with the standards for grades K-2. Sentence outlines, graphic organizers, and lined writing papers are included. There are 6 templates for each prompt, which ensures that all students’ needs are met. An anchor chart is also given as a student reference tool.
Students will voice their choice about:
Pizza OR Chicken Nuggets
Juice OR Soda Pop
Doritos OR Cheetos
Skittles OR M&Ms
