This is one of the first introductory digital lessons that I do with students at the beginning of the year. It's a great warm-up lesson to ease students back into school and creates a foundation of digital literacy and reference points that we go back to often. I do it with my caseload each year, so they get refreshed on these commands after the summer.
Included in the download:
- Student copy on Google Docs with 19 common keyboard commands (editable)
- Answer key on Google Docs
- B&W print out copy on Google Docs (editable)
After we do this lesson, one of the most rewarding things is seeing students use the keyboard commands every day as they work on their computers. We also usually collaborate on a poster of the common keyboard commands that we have up as reference for the rest of the year.
