Here are a few aids to help you teach the correct usage of "a" and "an." I like to have alternatives rather that just demonstrating by writing sentences on the Smartboard. The set includes a poster for easy review. Also, there are 8 teaching/review cards. They have a flap attached so you can cover the correct answer and let the students tell which word belongs in the phrase. There are 18 "I Have, Who Has?" card game. The students need to remember the correct word (a or an) before reading their word. There are two writing prompts so students can write a story about an eagle or an owl. Also, there is a flap booklet which contains the word usage definition and a chance for students to practice sorting and writing with a and an.
