In this activity, students are required to solve 49 equations based on Integers and Orders of Operation. Once complete, they use their solutions to create a colour coded image of a surprise Maths symbol.
This activity has been designed to address the ACARA Year 7 Maths and Year 8 Maths curriculums, but could be used by any curriculum investigating negative and positive integers as well as orders of operation. It is suitable for use by people with red-green and yellow-blue colour blindness.
This is a free sample of a much larger activity set which contains 31 unique puzzles which each generate their own individual image - meaning that nobody needs to be working on the same sheet at the same time. The complete activity pack contains puzzles aimed at three different ability levels, and accomodates red-gree, green-brown and yellow-blue colour blindness. It is also available on my TPT site - Using Art to Teach Integers and Orders of Operation (Complete set).
