This set addresses the tricky skill of learning when to use the article adjectives a and an. The materials can be used in a couple of different ways: as a matching game during small group instruction without the coloring page, or as a partner game with the coloring page. To use as a partner game, each student needs one stack of a/an penguins, one stack of word penguins, and the coloring sheet. Students take turns turning over one card from each stack. If a match is made (an igloo, for example) the student colors a dot on her penguin. Reshuffle the stacks if needed to continue playing until all the dots are colored on the penguin. A mini anchor chart is included for student reference.
