Product Description
"Today I went to Jack's birthday party. It was fun."
Teachers everywhere recognize this type of writing. After assigning a writing prompt or diary entry they are faced with sentence after sentence of 'good, fun, bad, a lot,' and other 'really, really, really' boring and generic word choices. Though this is obviously fine at certain levels and for certain students, for writing to evolve it is important to encourage colourful and descriptive word choices. This product helps to introduce students to descriptive language use in their writing.

Contents:

-Why Use Descriptive Language?
A brief introduction describing what descriptive language is and why we want to use it.

-Brainstorming Synonyms
Students fill out a table brainstorming synonyms for commonly used words.

-Add Some Color!
Students rewrite sentences using more colourful and descriptive language.

-Descriptive Language: Rewrite
Students rewrite a passage using more descriptive language to make the story more captivating.
