# Using Food to Introduce Variable Expressions

Pre-algebra and algebra students will use food (candy, trail mix, fruit snacks, etc.) to create expressions with one, two, and three variables. They will also substitute variables so that you can extend the learning (use negative numbers, money, etc.).
