PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This pack includes 10 weeks of mentor sentences, 1 per week, to help first grade teachers as they begin to teach about grammar and mechanics. I give an introduction and tell you how this works in my class.
Each week, as a story is introduced or reviewed, one sentence is taken from that story and the children notice things that good writers do. As the week goes on, they try it on the mentor sentence paper, but also during writing workshop.

This unit would be most helpful as you start the school year. Here is a list of the books you will need:
First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg
Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes
David Goes to School by David Shannon
The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes
